The 1930s saw the birth of a new type of communication :reality shown through images and moving pictures. It was the era of photo journalism, which finds its lifeblood in the technological developments made in photographic equipment. In fact , the first Leica was produced in 1924 ,a small and easy to handle camera .. a revolution .The limited dimensions, the rangefinder at eye level allowed rapid shots .As a result what the photo journalist showed was real and “true”. The reality of the pictures allowed the observer to identify with the events that were documented .
Through his photos and art Cartier- Bresson was able to do more .The spirit that first led him as a photographer and then as a painter was his search for the “ moment”. To capture and represent “the moment” that could never be repeated . He immortalised VIPs, faces, glances, movements, emotions in his continual search for the moment that would make his work particular.Carter-Bresson’s work is a historical testament of the contemporary age. .
